IRG-Rail has published its Seventh Market Monitoring report, covering data for 2017 and previous years from 29 European countries.
In the 2018 IRG-Rail report, particular emphasis has been placed on i) competition for the passenger market with focus on the procedures for award of Public Service Contracts and ii) the incumbents’ strategies to access rail passenger markets abroad.
The seventh annual market monitoring report is divided into two parts: the main report which presents overall results at the European level, and a working document in which country specific details are provided. Rail market monitoring is a vital instrument for enhancing market transparency, setting directions for the activities of Regulatory Bodies and encouraging market participants to improve their activities. Benchmarking is becoming a central instrument for improving the performance and under the right conditions comparison can be an important driver of performance.
