Plenary Assembly, 25 November 2019: IRG-Rail held its second Plenary Assembly of the year in Funchal
The second 2019 Plenary Assembly was convened in Funchal on 25th November under the Chair of João Carvalho, President of the Portuguese Regulatory Body, AMT. Mr João Carvalho will handover the IRG-Rail Chairmanship to Mr. Serge Drugmand, Head of the Belgium Regulatory Body, Regulatory Body for Railway Transport and for Brussels Airport Operations, at the end of the year. Ms. Maria-Theresia Röhsler of the Austrian Regulatory Body, Schienem-Control, was welcomed as Vice-Chair of IRG-Rail for 2020.
IRG-Rails’ working groups and sub-groups presented and submitted to the Plenary's approval, the main documents produced as planned in 2019 Working Programme.. The Multimodality Task Force presented the preliminary conclusions of intermodal and multimodal case studies on the Transportation sector’s competition, from a travellers’ perspective.
Mr. Pedro Bettencourt Calado, Vice-President of Regional Government, honoured the IRG-Rail members with an opening speech, highlighting Madeira Island main developments.
